Charm City

A couple of weeks ago, during Beau's "Geekend" (really, it only lasted an afternoon, but he liked the play on words), I visited my dear friend C. in Baltimore.
Yes, Baltimore. While my husband insists the city is the root of all evil, I quite enjoyed myself in the adventures I had with C.
Our first (and most important) stop was that of a lunch break at Micheal's Pizza. It's time that you, dear reader, know about my favorite food: pizza. I could eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner all in the same day, and I probably have at some point. My favorite popular chain pizza place is Papa John's, but for pizzeria pizza there is none that compares to Philly's Best in Elkridge. A close second is Gianni's in Severn - best with onions and sweet peppers. And an honorable mention to Maniaci's in Mohnton, PA for best margherita  pizza. But this day, we patronized Michael's Pizza in Baltimore:

Doesn't it just make your mouth water?

Afterward, we headed to the American Visionary Art Museum.

I've never been anywhere like this... it was just one interesting thing after another. Unfortunately, no photography was allowed inside. But as you will note, there was enough to keep us busy outside as well.

We visited some exhibits inside, and then headed up to the 3rd floor, where there was a craft show/sale. We met such interesting people, including the artist responsible for this cuteness:

We also met the man who designed and created the tree you see pictured above and this bus out front:

When it was time to leave, we headed up the big hill behind the museum.

It was cold, and windy, and very much a "Mary Poppins" sort of day:

Delightful day and sweet fellowship (and pizza... mmm)!

  3. I have a friend who lives in Baltimore near "the avenue." I guess it's a little eclectic area kind of like 4th ave here...but not as great. Have you been there?
